Fitt: Buddha-Full, North Vancouver's Plant-Based Hot Spot, is Hitting the Road In the Buddha-Bus

“Spreading Love on the Road”, is an apt tagline for the Buddha-Bus — a double-decker bus taking beloved plant-based cafe Buddha-Full’s smoothies, bowls, and eye-catching aesthetic outside of its usual brick-and-mortar locations.

Joining the North Shore’s popular summer evening haunts, national celebrations, and numerous other spots across the city, you’ll want to track the Buddha Bus’ schedule during the summer of 2019 to get in on a menu that has been carefully crafted across nearly a decade — all fuelled by a passion for nutritious and health-driven food.

FROM THE INSIDE OUT

Geremie Voigt and Kyla Rawlins brought their holistic, 100% plant-based establishment to life on the North Shore back in 2010. Their mission: to inspire and educate the masses with wholesome, good-for-you food that reflects their own love-focused ethos for wellness, community, and the planet. It gave them a sense of purpose, and it’s one that is apparent in the brightly-coloured, inviting décor of their two buzzing locations, their logo, and now their bus.

An exciting new concept when its first location opened, Buddha-Full has become a staple for Vancouverites seeking locally sourced, authentic offerings that mirror their health-focused lifestyle.

MOCHA MACA CHAGA AND MORE!

Unique names title the abundance of fresh and enticing food, from Dragon’s Breath to Bohemian Spirit and Wild at Heart to The Fiesta. It’s a menu with a wealth of different flavours served up in bowl-, wrap-, soup-, or salad-style, nourishing visitors from the inside out.

And it doesn’t stop there — the establishment is infamous for its smoothie and drinks menu, one of the limited few in the city that has niche but increasingly popular ingredients like ashwagandha, chlorella, and maca available. Demand is high for tempting combinations found in the likes of the Blue Dharma smoothie, the Golden Aura and Green Nirvana juices, a wake-up call in the form of the Kick-start Latte (chaga mushroom, ramón nut, yerba mate, raw cacao, sarsaparilla, maca, roasted dandelion, and guarana), or a tasty treat like the Mocha Maca Chaga. And what’s even better is that creations like these are hitting the road in the form of an old-school, pristine white double-decker bus, complete with a first-tier walk-up window and second-tier dining.

A MOVEABLE FEAST

The mobile kitchen will take its place at NOSH Foodie Fest at Capilano Mall in June. You can also catch it in Downtown at Robson St.’s Canada Day celebrations before it sets up shop at Shipyards Night Market for a regular spot in July. Keep checking back on the website, as dates and locations continue to be added — including a couple of noteworthy summer city-based festivals and a residency at The Fair, PNE August 16 through September 3.

Interested in having the bus rock up at your own wedding or special event? Can do. Want to learn more about Buddha-Full and it’s wondrous food? Check out Budda-Full TV—an educational online video series hosted by Voigt and fitness advocate/athlete Maddy Gill—for an abundance of recipes to get your mind and taste buds whirring.
